About
Ashley "Anjel" Craig recently received her Master's in Biology from the University of Mississippi under the direction of Dr. Jason Hoeksema, and now is a PhD student and IGERT fellow at Northern Arizona University. She is interested in mycorrhizal ecology and belowground community response to anthropogenic disturbance, climate change and restoration treatments. She plans on pursing her dissertation research in the Cottonwoods system at NAU looking at restoring a in-perill Cottonwood population to an area near the Colorado river that is projected to disappear from this are in another 50 years, and linking traits of belowground symbionts to above ground traits and what impact the belowground communities have maintaining these trees in this environment. Her Master's work consisted of identifying ectomycorrhizal communities in a restoration project in Northern MS, and seeing which measured abiotic factors contributed to variation in the community composition.
Outside of science she enjoys drawing, crafting, crocheting, hiking, gardening, caring for her rabbits and fish, playing D&D and other table top games with her husband, hulahooping and belly dancing. She also practices Tai Chi and tries to incorporate the these principles into her life. She is starting up a blog on her efforts to be a sustainable sojourner which she hopes to have a link to on here soon.
